Several methodologies exist for quantifying a company's emissions. Carbon footprint calculations benefit from adhering to the ISO 14064 standard, which provides specifications and guidelines for quantifying, monitoring, and reporting greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. It is based on the GHG Protocol and translates its requirements into a standard. Indeed, the objective of its implementation is to define a greenhouse gas reporting model that is fully compatible with the established ISO standards for environmental and energy management (ISO 50001 and ISO 14001). The ISO 14064 standard also distinguishes between two categories of emissions: direct and indirect.
