Many countries have committed to developing their clean and renewable energy potential, a crucial element of their plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. They aim to increase their renewable energy capacity by 2030 and 2050 and to diversify their energy systems to promote green energy. Tunisia, a signatory to the Paris Agreement, intends to set an example by presenting its national objectives in its Nationally Determined Contribution, aligned with the global goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C (Read more about the COP).

The COP, which stands for Conference of the Parties, is a series of formal meetings of the Conference of the Parties, where governments assess global efforts to advance the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, and to limit global warming to 1.5°C, in line with the latest scientific findings. At COPs, world leaders meet to take stock of progress and negotiate the best ways to tackle climate change.

There are now 198 Parties (197 countries plus the European Union) to the Convention, representing near-universal membership (www.cop29.az).
